Melissanidis Distillery, aiming to conquer both the Greek and international markets, decided to launch a “Mediterranean” gin: Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin.
The name Mataroa refers to the legendary ship “Mataroa,” which, in December 1945, carried the cream of Greece’s youth in arts and letters to Paris.
The gin is crafted in Greece with a secret recipe that includes select fruits and herbs from across the Mediterranean, such as lavender from France, chamomile from Cyprus, tangerine from Morocco, mastic from Greece, iris root from Italy, and orange from Spain.
The goal was to create a premium product that would be featured on the shelves of the best bars and restaurants worldwide. The packaging and the distinctive design of the bottle were crafted to add an extra layer of intrigue to a gin that captures all the flavors and aromas of the Mediterranean in a glass.
Forlabels’ packaging solution, which included a security label on the bottle’s cap, aimed to attract the consumer’s eye. The special Velmart White/WetStrengthAdhesive (WSA) wine paper was used for this. The blue color in the lettering was applied with HOTFOIL (colored blue metal melted onto the paper like a wax seal), while the “leaf” design was silk-screen printed with a raised varnish for tactile effect. This provided a unique sensory experience, especially when opening the bottle. Additionally, a perforation was included for easy opening and security, along with a lot number for tracking.
Result:
The result was an impressive packaging that meets the standards of the international market, allowing the product to be positioned with high expectations in top bars and restaurants around the world.
Within just two months of its release, Mataroa Mediterranean Dry Gin has received outstanding reviews.
